600x-scott-detecting-at-ashland1The incredible Ashland Living History event is coming up September 26th (10AM-5PM) and you won’t want to miss it.

Scott Clark will be working with Dr. Kim McBride (Co-director of the Kentucky Archaeological Survey ) to demonstrate archaeology and metal detecting methodology at historic homes.  For a taste of the kinds of things you’ll see at the event, check out these images from 2014.

Lots of fascinating information from Dr. McBride and other Archaeology representatives on what’s been found at Henry Clay and how it enhances the story of the home and Kentucky.

Scott will be demonstrating the gridding and survey methodologies used in metal detecting (yes, he’ll be digging artifacts live!) at historic sites and providing help on artifact interpretation. This will be on September 26 at the Henry Clay Estate. Ticket and other information after the jump. Make sure to come out and bring the kids!   (Please don’t bring your metal detector, detecting is not permitted at the Henry Clay Estate anytime except in association with professional Archaeologists)
